Oh how lovely is the Belgravia dress! A new style summer, this is the dress I have worn over and over, dressing up or down to suit mood and occasion. Looks great with trainers or flats for everyday, yet elevates into the perfect party frock with 'proper' shoes and jewellery. We created the print for this dress from a beautiful vintage skirt, a 19th century 'folk' print which I fell in love with at an antiques fair. Printed on the softest cotton sateen in a flattering square neck design, we think this style is the making of a future heirloom.
Come see behind the scenes as we created this charming dress...

As ever, we find inspiration everywhere and this is a typical view of our studio floor! We love finding vintage textiles, market finds, and exploring images of inspiring fashion icons. In this case, we loved a photo of fashion icon, Isabel Adjani and lots of photos from the 70's and 80's.
The print design came from a 19th century cotton 'folk' skirt. Fresh, crisp roses and forget-me-nots arranged in an almost geometric design. The design of the dress is gently fitted whilst still easy and comfortable for movement. The deep square neckline is beautifully flattering and high enough to cover a classic bra, summery and special for day into evening. We always love to design dresses that you can wear for all sorts of occasions.
Designed with elbow length softly puffed sleeves and a deep square neck, we added soft sash ties to cinch at the waist for a feminine fitted silhouette. Effortlessly cool, dress up with heels and jewellery for parties or down with trainers for the garden. I wore mine to a sustainable British Fashion council event at number 10 with my trusty silver clog sandals!
